Surgical spaying that prevents unwanted pregnancies and significantly lowers the risk of mammary tumours and uterine infections.
How the procedure works
- Pre-op check-up and blood work to assess anaesthetic risk
- General anaesthesia with continuous cardiopulmonary monitoring
- Ovariohysterectomy (removal of ovaries and uterus) through a minimally invasive approach
- Surgery time: ~90 minutes, with same-day discharge
Recovery
10–14 days of rest, a protective collar, and a wound check at day 10 to remove stitches (if non-absorbable). The health benefits are greatest when done before the first heat cycle.
