First-aid guide until you reach the clinic

Calm the animal
Stress worsens shock. Speak softly, don't force movement. Cover with a light blanket.
External bleeding
Apply firm pressure with a clean towel for 5-10 minutes. Do NOT use a tourniquet unless life-threatening.
Shock state
The animal is pale, weak, breathing fast. Keep warm (blanket). Do NOT give food or water.
Transport
Large dogs: 2 people on a blanket used as a stretcher. Cats/small dogs: carrier. Don't hold them in your arms while driving.
Do NOT
Do not induce vomiting without veterinary guidance. Some substances (acids, bases, hydrocarbons) cause more damage on the way back.
